Давид Те́нирс Младший один из наиболее значимых художников и гравёров фламандской школы, наряду со своими соотечественниками Рубенсом и ван Дейком.

Писал картины на религиозные темы, жанровые сцены, сцены деревенской жизни, интерьеры, портреты, пейзажи. Старший из четверых сыновей художника Тенирса Старшего и Димфны Вилде. Крещён 15 декабря 1610 года. Первые уроки живописи брал у отца. Считается также, что он учился у Рубенса и Браувера, но подтверждающих этот факт письменных свидетельств не сохранилось. Принято также считать, что его ранние годы были непростыми, что было связано с финансовыми трудностями его отца, однако именно эти обстоятельства позволили ему довольно рано добиться успеха. В 1632 году он вступил в Гильдию Святого Луки Антверпена в качестве мастера, а 4 июля 1637 года женился на дочери знаменитого художника Яна Брейгеля Старшего. Брак принёс ему солидное приданое, а также дружбу и покровительство Рубенса. В 1643 году написал свой единственный групповой портрет городского ополчения.
